THE Chief Executive Officer of CityMirrorNews/TV, Asiwaju Ayobami Agboola, has received the Media Personality of the Year Award at the 2026 EMTV World Entertainment awards ceremony held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre on Sunday, October 18.

Agboola, who also serves as the Osun correspondent of New Telegraph, was honoured by EMTV World Entertainment in collaboration with Oats Multi Global Ventures in recognition of his contributions to journalism and media practice.

He received the award alongside other distinguished personalities recognised in various categories, including Broadcaster of the Year, Brand of the Year and Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year, among others.

Speaking after receiving the award, Agboola expressed gratitude to the organisers for considering him worthy of the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to uphold the values of truth, professionalism, integrity and responsible journalism.

He dedicated the award to his family, colleagues, mentors, friends and supporters who had contributed to his journey in the media industry.

The CityMirrorNews/TV CEO said the recognition would motivate him to improve his work and continue using the media to inform, educate and positively influence society.

He also urged media practitioners to uphold objectivity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, stressing the importance of responsible journalism.

“We should try as much as possible to always uphold the principle of objectivity and we should be professional enough in the course of discharging our duties as media practitioners,” he said.

Earlier, the Creative Director of EMTV World Entertainment, Emmanuel Olayinka Salako, said the awards were designed to recognise individuals whose hard work, abilities and contributions had distinguished them in their respective fields.

Salako explained that the organisation selected nominees based on their work, strengths and demonstrated capabilities, adding that the nomination process was conducted online.

He said the initiative was intended to celebrate excellence across different professional sectors and provide recognition for individuals making notable contributions to society.

Founded in 2019, EMTV World Entertainment is a Nigerian media and talent-promotion organisation in Osun with branches across southwestern Nigeria.

The organisation promotes emerging talents and recognises individuals across fields including entrepreneurship, fashion, event management, storytelling and media.
