In a letter dated October 19th, 2026, and addressed to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Government House, Akure, Hon. Salas expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him but said he could not accept the position.
According to the letter titled “RE: DECLINATION OF APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE GOVERNOR,” Hon. Salas stated that his decision was based on an earlier commitment made to ten leaders who attended the MHA endorsement process on May 26th.
He said he was assured during the process that he would be appointed into one of the viable offices, an assurance he accepted in good faith.
“Therefore, with all due respect, I believe it is necessary for me to respectfully decline the present appointment as Special Assistant, as it does not align with the assurance previously given to me,” the letter read.

He thanked the Governor for the honor and sought his understanding.
