THE immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello on Tuesday lost his move to get the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court to grant him bail.
Justice Maryann struck out Bello’s bail application on the ground that it was filed as of the time the former governor was yet to be taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The application was filed on November 22 while the former governor was taken into custody by the anti-graft agency on November 26 and arraigned on November 27.
On November 27, the former governor was arraigned before Justice Anenih-led court
Bello was arraigned alongside alongside Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu in a 16-count charge filed against them by EFCC, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In the charge before the FCT High Court, marked FCT/HC/CR/778/24, the former governor is charged with criminal breach of trust in respect of the sum of N110,446,470,089, among others, before the court.
