Davido/shamble Economy: We Can’t Be Mad With The Mirror Because We Made The Country Look So Ugly

By Abioye Tosin Lawrence

……If UK Appends Signature For New General Election, ‘How Bigger Is Nigeria?

It’s disheartening to see folk like Reno Omkri attack Davido over his latest outburst on Nigeria and its ailing economy. If we compare someone who body-shamed President Tinubu and assaulted him by organizing a demonstration in the diaspora during the general elections, it has the potential to dissuade investors from doing business with the country.

Nobody is more Nigerian than hip-hop musician Davido Adeleke (Davido), who unveiled the true X-ray of the country during a time when people were going through a lot.

Imagine the situation of the country’s economy and telling someone that the United Kingdom, which held elections a few months ago, has collected over two million signatures to have new elections, implying that Prime Minister Kier Starmer has broken his campaign promises.

There’s a saying that we don’t have to be upset at the mirror since we look so terrible. Reno was one of the weapons used to combat the country’s awful appearance, and he can’t always be correct.

You cannot call Mr President all sorts of things to the level of labeling him as a drug dealer in front of the western world without having evidence, and you criticized Davido for his jibe because of your newfound dalliance with the ruling party and President Tinubu.

People are wondering why he could no longer find fault with the current administration.

Where we go wrong is that we failed to do what was right during the election; people don’t love Nigeria, but they love politicians.

many people believe that when you criticize the government, you get your own cake, and that’s why those who are not trained in the aspect of activism are taking charge because many organizations, vocal voices who condemned the government of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, such as SERAP, which dragged President Buhari’s regime to court countless times are no longer active.

We must respect the equal rights of all individuals, as stipulated in the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s constitution, which states that no governor or governance, regardless of position in society, is equal before the law.

Davido should not be the first to decide if international investors will come to invest in the country if Russia, which has been at war for over a thousand days and has been punished with several sanctions, can still preserve stability.

When Nigerians are ready to love the nation deeply, prioritize her interests. When no one can use thugs to influence elections, when no leader is too powerful to buy people but allows democracy to triumph, when the electoral, judiciary, and all institutions in the country are reformed, and Nigerians have a positive attitude toward Nigeria.

When those who promote films capable of driving most Nigerians to flee the country begin producing films that educate the people about their history, heritage, what to do, and how to live a better life, foreign investors would flood the country without being forced to.

It is preferable for members of the ruling party to defend their party and their failings, but it is the responsibility of Nigerians to determine whether they are performing well and whether Nigeria’s economy is superior to that of the smallest country in Africa.

It is the electorate’s responsibility to determine whether the Naira is superior to the Cefa, shilling, Dinar, Dalasi, and other African currencies, rather than competing with the dollar and pound sterling.

If we actually practice democracy. The people should have the right to ask whether the individuals they elected are making better progress in fixing the country, where the typical Nigerian is now eager to stay and halt the Japa syndrome.
