THE Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, has joined his ancestors.

Reports have emerged indicating that the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, has passed away.

According to palace sources, the revered monarch died on Wednesday after a brief illness.

While no official statement has been issued by the Owa Obokun palace, insiders have confirmed the monarch’s death.

A palace source, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated, “Baba has passed, but we are waiting for an official announcement from the palace.”

The source also hinted at the commencement of traditional rites that must be performed before any formal declaration can be made.

“You can see that they have started performing some traditional rites. This has to be done before any announcement can be made,” the source added.

Heavy security presence has been observed around the palace, a customary practice following the death of a king.

His passing marks the end of a significant era in Ijesaland.

The monarch reigned for over 40 years.
