1. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has restated the Nigerian Army’s commitment and determination to ensure the total defeat of insurgents, marauding bandits, and all other forms of external and internal aggression disturbing the peace of the country. Lagbaja gave the assurance in his Easter message to troops of the Nigerian Army on Sunday in Abuja.

2. The North West zone of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has challenged the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Zamfara State, demanding evidence to support allegations that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, provided palliatives to bandits. Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna on Sunday, the APC North West Zonal Publicity Secretary, Musa Mada, warned that failure to provide evidence, will result in legal action against the accusers.

3. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 10-year-old boy for allegedly strangulating his 10-year-old mate to death during a football match. The Command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to newsmen on Sunday.

4. The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, has stated that Nigeria is reaping what it sowed yesterday. Addressing the nation’s challenges, Bishop Kukah, in his Easter message made available to newsmen, called upon the Federal Government to devise a robust strategy to reverse the country’s course and lead it towards national healing.

5. The Police Command in Enugu State says it has raided hideouts of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its Eastern Security Network, ESN, arm in the Akwuke axis of Enugu metropolis. The Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement on Sunday that the Police conducted the raid on Saturday at about 2:30 a.m, leading to the killing of two members of the group.

6. An Islamic cleric, Oluwafemi Idris, has been arrested by police operatives in Ondo State after being caught with fresh human parts in the state. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, Idris was nabbed alongside two other suspects identified as Samuel Kutelu and Babatunde Kayode in the Akoko axis of the northern senatorial district of the state, following an intel received over the ritualistic activities of the cleric.

7. The President of the Association of Bureaux de Change Operators of Nigeria, ABCON, Aminu Gwadabe, says the Naira appreciated by N660 against the US dollar since the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, recalled BDC operators into the Foreign Exchange Market. Gwadabe disclosed this to DAILY POST in a statement at the weekend.

8. The 36 states governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have been given a one-week ultimatum by the Socio-Economic Right and Accountability Project to provide the loan agreements and spending details of the loans obtained by their states and the FCT. A statement issued on Sunday by the organisation’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, explained that details and locations of projects executed with the loans that amount to N5.9 trillion and $4.6 billion are to be included.

9. Tragedy struck in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State as three children died and four others sustained injuries while playing with a dane gun in Didango Geita village.The Commissioner of Police, David Iloyonomon, while confirming the incident, denied claims of an improvised explosive in the community.

10. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has detained a 35-year-old lady, Chidinma Chinenye Agbazue, after she was caught attempting to export 20 parcels of cannabis sativa weighing 10.70 kilograms concealed in African salad, popularly called Abacha, and dried vegetables to Doha, Qatar, through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos State. This was disclosed in a statement by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, on Sunday.
