TEXT OF SPEECH OF HON. COMR. SUNDAY ASEFON AT THE INAUGURATION OF THE COMMITTEE ON CAMPAIGN AGAINST SOCIAL VICES IN SECONDARY AND TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA.

The Honourable Minister of Education (State) Dr. Yusuf Sununu, Distinguished guests, esteemed members of the newly formed committee, brilliant students of Nigeria, Gentlemen men of the press.

On this special occasion, I stand before you on behalf of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to officially welcome you all to the Inauguration of the Special Committee on Campaign Against Social Vices in Secondary and Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.

The formation of this committee is focal to our nation’s journey. We acknowledge the growing presence of social vices, such as drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime, sexual harassment, and academic dishonesty, that threaten the well-being and academic success of our students.

These vices cast a shadow over the vibrant environment of our tertiary institutions and hinder the development of our future leaders.

However, today, we choose hope.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is deeply committed to safeguarding the future of Nigerian students. Today we assembled representatives from diverse backgrounds to lead this special commitment to our dear Nation.

To the esteemed members of the committee, The weight of responsibility you carry is significant. You are entrusted with developing and implementing comprehensive awareness campaigns to educate students about the dangers of social vices and promote positive values.

You will collaborate with tertiary institutions to strengthen security measures and create an environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth.

To the students of Nigeria; This committee is here for you. We believe in your potential and the Government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is here to empower you to make positive choices.

Together we can make our campuses and Nigeria free of social vices.

Term of reference shall be provided to the committee through the Chairman.
