FG okays N5.1billion for award of TETFund research projects

The Nigerian Federal Government has announced the approval of N5,128,180,623 for funding 185 research projects, marking a significant milestone in the country’s pursuit of academic and scientific excellence.

This funding is part of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) National Research Fund 2023 Grant Cycle, an initiative dedicated to fostering research and innovation in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

The allocation process was rigorous, starting with an evaluation of 4,287 Concept Notes submitted by research applicants.

The funds are divided into three thematic groups: Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation, which received a whopping N3,784,635,923; Humanities and Social Science, allocated N759,875,400; and Cross-Cutting themes, receiving N583,669,300.63.

The grants range from N8 million to over N46 million, signifying the government’s commitment to support varied scales of research.
