Osun: Govt sounds alarm on impostors and threats to state officials

VOICE AIR MEDIA, News Update

THE Osun State Government has raised alarm over a wave of impostors masquerading as federal government agents and engaging in the harassment of state officials.

The alleged impostors, reportedly armed, have not only attacked personnel of the Osun State Internal Revenue Service but also seized land belonging to the state government.

According to a statement signed by Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, the impostors are said to be operating within the state with the support of compromised security agents providing cover for their activities.

The government expressed readiness to cooperate with federal agencies operating in the state for the betterment of Osun citizens.

However, a stern warning was issued that any encroachment on state assets would be met with necessary action to protect them from abuse.

The government emphasized its commitment to addressing the issue, stating, “The Osun State Government is constrained to bring to the attention of the public the appearance of some illegal operators stopping revenue collection activities, hijacking state land, and frustrating lawful operations of officials of the state government.”

Describing the incursions by the impostors as crude, unconstitutional, and unacceptable, the government called on the police authority to identify and take action against officers involved in supporting these illegal activities.

The statement read, “We strongly condemn the violence visited on state officials while discharging their lawful duties by illegal operators with the active participation of some compromised security agents.”

Furthermore, the Osun State Government urged relevant federal agencies to scrutinize the activities of their agents in Osun state to ensure they do not engage in illegality or economic sabotage against the state.

The government’s plea highlights the need for a thorough investigation into the alleged misconduct and a commitment to preserving the peace and economic stability of Osun State.
