“Beware of Fraudulent Free Online Courses’ Claim”— University of Ibadan Issues Scam Alert

The management of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, in Oyo State, has declared that the institution is not running any free online courses.

University of Ibadan made this declaration via a statement issued by its registrar, Ganiyu Saliu.

The institution said that its attention has been drawn to an advertisement that it is running online courses where students are given free laptops and certificates.

The statement made available to newsmen on Thursday described the claim as fake.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Management of the University of Ibadan has been drawn to an online advertisement for free certification courses supposedly available online, with which laptops and certificates are provided by the University of Ibadan.

“The Management wishes to disclaim this advertisement. All courses for which certificates of the University of Ibadan are awarded are usually considered and approved by the Senate of the University, and free online certification courses were not approved by the UI Senate.

“This information is not also from the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre. The Centre’s collaboration with EDUREX Consult for short-term certification in various professional programmes at the Centre’s Bodija Office is certainly not free, and no one is collecting a free laptop. Members of the public are advised not to allow themselves to be scammed, please.” CONTINUE READING……………………………….
