THE Chairman of the Osun Online Publishers Association, Mr Jare Tiamiyu has revealed the readiness of the association to partner with relevant stakeholders towards tackling the menace of climate change that is threatening the world.

Tiamiyu made this known on Wednesday as the grand finale of the maiden Osun Digital Media Week held in Osogbo, the State capital.

The week-long event, with the theme “Digital Media and Climate Action; the Nexus”, commenced on Monday with sensitization visit to selected markets and donations of sanitation materials to them.

Speaking on Wednesday, Tiamiyu said the journalists understand the threats posed by the climate change and are ready to lead advocacy at the grassroots and spotlight areas that need government and stakeholders attention.

“This is the dry season, whatever we do now will determine how enormous the challenge will be when the rain starts. All of us witnessed what happened in Ikire about a few months ago and we have seen that driving on major roads in Osogbo when it’s raining, is a thug of war as heavy erosion takes over. This is the same in all parts of Osun State.

“As an organization, we’re ready to lead the advocacy and bring more of this to the fore. We will not only be reporting the problems, we shall also be bringing the solution as required by us. We want every stakeholder to work with us towards finding a lasting solution to the challenge.”

Tiamiyu also revealed that the members of the association will embark on capacity building to prepare them for better service to the society.
