Suspected ‘Yahoo Boy’ Kills 14-Year-Old Boy, Delta Poly Student, One Other

A suspected ‘yahoo boy’ on Sunday evening, reportedly rammed into a final year student of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Jenepher Ike, killing her in the process.

A 14-year-old SS1 student of Odiagbo Secondary School and a yet-to-be-identified girl was also involved in the accident.

It was gathered that the accident which happened along the Polytechnic Road, Ogwashi-Uku, claimed three lives.

Eyewitnesses said the suspect rammed into the three victims along the road and killed the final year student and the 14-year-old boy on the spot while the third female victim was rushed to hospital but died on Monday morning.

“The boy (suspect) driving a Lexus 350 salon ash colour along the Polytechnic Road, just about a pole to the school and crushed three persons to death.

“The boy is among these yahoo boys in Ogwashi-Uku. People came to the scene and started beating him and even wanted to mob him before the intervention of some persons who handed him over to the police.

“The deceased, Jenepher, a final year HND Mass Communication student of the polytechnic, just finished her exams and currently writing her project.

“The 14-year-old boy was an SS1 student of Odiagbo Secondary School.

“The other female victim whose mother is selling something along the Polytechnic Road was quickly rushed to the hospital but unfortunately, she died this (Monday) morning.

“It is unfortunate that this happened again this December. Every December, there must be an accident of this nature in this road especially involving these “yahoo boys”, another witness narrated.

An eyewitness said the suspect is currently detained at the Ogwashi-Uku police station.

But the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that only one died.

He said, “One death confirmed, please.”
