THE Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved redeployment of Commissioners of Police into Rivers, Osun, Imo and four other State commands.
Egbetokun appointed CP Olatunji Disu, as the new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State Command, in order to ensure efficiency in the policing system across the state.
IGP Egbetokun has also appointed seven police officers to lead different commands as part of the ongoing measures towards strengthening security, tackling violent crimes, and enhancing optimal coordination of police operations across Nigeria.
The seven other CPs appointed and redeployed include CP George Chuku as commissioner for Benue State Command, CP Isyaku Muhammed to Osun State Command and CP Ahmed Tijani to Jigawa Command.
Others are CP Dan Shawulu to Niger Command, CP Usman Hayatu to Gombe State Command and CP Danjuma Aboki to Imo State Command.
The new appointments were contained in a signal already dispatched on Wednesday evening, Nov. 8, indicating that the senior police officers’ redeployments were with immediate effects.
In the signal, the police boss charged the new CPs to demonstrate professional competence in their new offices they have been assigned to lead across the country.
The Rivers State new CP will be replacing CP Nwonyi Emeka, a week after Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State accused some police officers of attempting to kill him when he went to access the level of damage done to the State House of Assembly following an explosion that greatly affected the hallowed chambers.
