THE wife of Osun State Governor, Chief (Mrs) TItilola Adeleke currently in New York city with other wives of Nigerian Governors at the maiden edition of Nigeria Economic And Trade Summit has called on the Federal Government to take an urgent look into the incessant rate at which Nigerian youths are seeking for greener pastures abroad.
“Stemming Migration Flows” is the theme of a 5-day summit with a view to taking a look at the rate of migration especially of youths in the Nigeria.
Accompanied by the wife of the State Deputy Governor, Deaconess Sola Adewusi and the wife of the Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Mojisola Aina, noted that it is more imperative for the Governments at all levels to revamp their strategies of allaying the effects of the challenges associated with the migration issues.
She lamented that unpriotised education, joblessness, insecurity, infrastructural deficit, hunger and failure of governments at all levels to provide opportunities for the youths to live their desired life and achieve their dreams is becoming a social epidemic.
According to Chief (Mrs) Adelele , ” It is important to mention that education and training of our workforce can play a major role in determining how well our economy performs.
“Reports have it that there has been consistent increase in the number of Nigerian skilled workforce migrating or planning to migrate out of Nigeria due to the current economic situation.
“Curbing migration of citizens can be reduced if government prioritized funds for the education sector to empower citizens with free education and professional degrees, as well as provide the necessary infrastructure and funding for the healthcare sector.
“Most importantly, training Nigerians, especially the youths on modern agriculture strategies and use of technology, will help increase efficiency and open up more business and employment opportunities.” Mrs Adeleke enunciated.
