NLC boycotts meeting with Federal government on nationwide strike action

VOICE AIR MEDIA

THE leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Monday evening, boycotted a meeting called by the federal government to discuss issues around the proposed two-day warning strike slated to begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

The meeting was convened by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, who earlier appealed to the organised labour to solve the impending strike.

Already, many of the affiliate groups of the NLC have concluded the mobilisation process ahead of the warning strike.

The leadership of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) led by its national president, Festus Osifo, however, attended the closed-door meeting with the Federal government.

Last week, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) announced plans to embark on a two-day warning strike beginning on Tuesday, September 5, in protest against the Federal Government’s failure to address the challenges being faced by Nigerians over the fuel subsidy removal.
