Oluwafemi Jackson’s Ondo emerge 86kg Men Freestyle Champions of Gov. Diri National Wrestling

Ondo state’s Oluwafemi Jackson has defeated the reining champion, Harrison Isreal of Bayelsa State in the men’s 86kg weight class freestyle at the just concluded 2nd Governor Diri National Wrestling Classics in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State, on Thursday.

Jackson won with 6 to 4 points and set to be crowned the new champion of 86kg Men freestyle.

Oluwafemi Jackson won 6 to 4 dien the finals, won matches with technical superiority in the tournament, and defeated his opponent Bayelsa’s Harrison Isreal, the current reigning champion.

A breakdown of winners of other categories;

In the 65kg Men free style, Simon Steven won, 70kg by Adebayo Hope, 74kg by BraveMan Peremo, 86kg Godday Charles, 120kg Promise Annoited.

VAM News gathered that the competition, 2nd edition of Gov Diri National Wrestling Classics is a national championship tournament, commenced from August 4-10th, 2023.

Speaking with Journalists, the president of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Champion Daniel Igali has lauded the performance of the Nation’s Wrestlers at the ongoing 2nd Governor Diri National Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa.

Daniel Igali who stated while fielding questions from newsmen was upbeat that with the high level of wrestling from the various states and clubs, Nigeria will have a formidable team for the Olympics.

Champion Igali noted that the future of wrestling is bright as the level of competitiveness in the 2nd Governor Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics has increased the odds.
