VAM News Update

Aki, the actor extraordinaire, during an illuminating interview, recollected specific moment in his lifetime, where he found himself deep in introspection, considering and reflecting upon the grave idea of ending his own life at the tender age of 9.

The big-screen sensation shared that there was a moment in time when the idea of leaping off the third mainland bridge crossed his mind, prompted by a series of gut-wrenching experiences that pushed him into the throes of depression.

Nollywood stalwart, Chinedu Ikedieze, fondly known as Aki, bared his soul in a conversation with media maven Chude Jideonwo, where he revealed the perilous paths he came dangerously close to treading after a doctor diagnosed him with stunted growth.

According to Aki’s recollection, when he was merely 9 years old, he found himself on the brink of attempting suicide, triggered by a Doctor’s revelation to his mother that he was grappling with stunted growth.

He revealed that there was a time when he even considered the idea of leaping off the third mainland bridge due to the overwhelming sense of low self-esteem he experienced, compounded by the taunts and ridicule he endured from his peers.

Aki also shared that he met his colleague, Osita Iheme aka Pawpaw, and the two of them were firmly committed to achieving success as movie partners.

The Actor said people used to cast curious looks in their direction due to their differing heights.

In the course of the interview, Chinedu Ikedieze uttered;

“I almost commit suicide when a Doctor told my mom that I was suffering from stunted growth. I even thought of ending it all, third mainland bridge no far oo.

When I met my partner, Osita, people used to look at us in the usual way because of our heights, but we had the determination to be successful together in Nollywood, and everything worked out for us.”
