Asst Superintendent of Police murdered at checkpoint in Ondo

THE tragic event took place at a checkpoint on the Ifon/Sobe road in Ose local government area

The deceased officer was an Assistant Superintendent of Police
On Sunday, an Assistant Superintendent of Police who was stationed at a checkpoint along the Ifon/Sobe road in Ose local government area of Ondo State was struck and killed by a hit and run driver who fled the scene after the accident.

According to GalaxyTV, the suspected driver was said to have refused to stop and drove on a high speed towards Edo State.

Ondo State Police Spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who confirmed the incident, explained that “A suspected vehicle driver, while the police were trying to stop him (driver), he didn’t stop.

“So, our officers were alerted on the highway but on getting to a particular place around Ifon, the driver swapped and hit an ASP and the officer died immediately.

“The driver was, however, pursued and fortunately for us, he (driver) was arrested by the military men at Sobe in Edo state.”

In another news, Sehinde Abolusoro, an FRSC Officer in Ondo State was killed in a road accident in Akure in November 2017. He was crushed to death after a speeding driver lost control of his vehicle.

The 36-year-old officer was killed on the busy Ilesa-Akure Express Road while on duty.

It was gathered that Abolusoro was crushed to death after checking and passing some vehicles. The deceased was the Deputy Route Commander (DRC) in the Ondo Sector Command.

A witness who confirmed thi ok hgod, said the FRSC officer was crushed by the roadside and later lost his breath. “The driver, in full speed, was trying to avoid a big truck and in the process veered off his lane. In that same process, he hit the officer that was standing almost by the roadside to control other incoming vehicles,” the witness said.
