Osun: Gov’s Wife, Titilola Adeleke Pledges Support For Women In Agriculture Initiative

THE wife of Osun State Governor, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke has pledged total support for formation of “Women in Agriculture” across the State, in-line with the developmental agenda of the” Renewed Hope Initiative”, a pet project of the First Lady of the Federation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Mrs Adeleke disclosed this in an interview with pressmen shortly after joining other wives of the governors for the maiden meeting held with the First Lady, Sen.Oluremi Tinubu at the Presidential villa in Abuja.

Mrs Adeleke explained that the roles of women in the society can not be overemphasized, hence need for them to be empowered for self reliance.

According to her, women should learn to cultivate land for farming, no matter how small,saying vegetable gardens in their homes will go a along way in complementing the meal for the family.

She explained that the Federal Government, through the office of the First lady, is ready to support women in Agriculture in all States of the Federation, and that Osun is ready to maximize the opportunity.

Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke stressed that women that are involved in mechanised farming will be supported in many ways in a bid to boost their farming businesses.

She described women as the backbone of families in view of the multidimensional roles they are expected to play in family affairs.

She however reiterated her commitment to the empowerment of women in agriculture, emphasizing that women across the local governments would be empowered though agriculture, and that none will be left behind.

She then called on government at all levels to evolve programmes that will contribute to holistic development of women in order to enhance their roles as solid family support.
