Father and son kidnapped in Kwara

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a father and son in Isanlu-Isin town, Isin Local Government of Kwara State.

The victims, Deacon Femi Ajayi, of Baptist Grammar School, Oke Ayegun, Isanlu-Isin, and his father, were kidnapped around 7 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023.

The kidnappers allegedly damaged their vehicle before whisking them away to an unknown destination.

The spokesman of the state police command, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the development.

“The police commissioner, Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi, has dispatched teams of policemen supported by hunters and vigilante to the town for possible search and rescue of the abductees, please,” the PPRO stated.

NUT chairman. Kwara state Wing, Com Oyewo Bashir, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, July 14, alled on security agencies to rescue the victims.

“The NUT is again flabbergasted by the reported kidnap case of another teacher Mr. Ajayi a teacher in BGS Isanlu Isin yesterday Thursday 13th July 2023,” the statement read.

“These unfortunate cases are negatively affecting the educational sector in the state as teachers now go to school with fear of been kidnapped or killed.

“Recently a senior staff of the LGA was killed around the same axis on his way from his work place. The NUT Kwara State Wing is calling on kwara State Government, Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to save Teachers from this traumatic experiences and the educational sector from imminent collapse as Teachers and students are no more safe going to school.

“The recent case of kidnap should urgently be investigated and victims set free. The union is hereby appealing to our members to be security conscious by avoiding late travelling and journey on deserted or abandoned roads. We pray for God’s guidiance and protection on all Teachers, students and entire workers.”
