Ekiti: Pensioners Calls Out State Exco Over Fraud

THE Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ado Ekiti Branch, Mr. Ayodele Ogunsakin has alleged the State Executive led by Chief Joel Akinola of Fraud by denying the branch of its check off dues.

Mr Ogunsakin who made the allegations while addressing newsmen in AdoEkiti, said the check off dues accrued to the branch since 27 years ago had remained the same while members had increased.

He also berated the State Chairman of the NUP for dissolving the executive of the branch illegally, despite the intervention of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ekiti Chapter, adding that dissolution of the Exco which tenure extends till next year December would not bring the needed solution.

Mr Ogunsakin challenged the state executive led by Joel Akinola to explain to Nigerians how they have been spending the union’s money.

The chairman called to the state exco of the Union to release the actual amount of over one million naira due accrued to the branch as against the one hundred and thirty one thousand naira giving to it monthly.

Explaining further, Mr Ogunsakin said that the the constitution stipulates that 25 percent of monthly contribution of members should go to the local government branches instead of the 5 point 8 being disbursed.

The Secretary of the Association, Deaconess Bosede Ajayi, and an ex- officio, Mr Laleye Lashore, joined their voices to appeal to the State Executive to comply with the Association’s law rather than perpetrating illegalities.

They were of the opinion that now that the country is waging war against corruption, it would be absurd to note that senior citizens are promoting graft.

Similarly, The Chairman of Ado Ekiti Local Government Pensioners Association, an affiliate of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ado Ekiti Branch, Mr Biodun Agboola, charged the state exco to open it’s books to the public for scrutiny so that the integrity of the union could be restored.
