EKITI: Teachers Celebrate Sallah With Former SSA on Teachers’ Matter, Adeparusi, Laud His Mentorship Role

Tens of teachers in Ekiti State under the Umbrella of the Nigerian Union of Teachers NUT on Thursday stormed the Residence of the former Senior Special Assistant to the Former Governor Kayode Fayemi on Teachers’ Matters Honorable Tokunbo Suleiman Adeparusi to Celebrate the 2023 Eid- Kabir.

Led by the state Chairman of the NUT, Comr. Emmanuel Oke, the teachers attested to the diligence, kindness, leadership and selfless service of Hon. Adeparusi who had served in different positions including Special Adviser on Political matters to the former Deputy Governor, the late Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi.

They explained that they avail every occasion of Sallah to celebrate Hon Adeparusi whom they described as prominent in advocating better welfares for teachers in the state and the country at large.

In his words, the NUT chairman Comr. Emmanuel affirmed the teachers’ confidence in Adeparusi who had built himself a trustworthy reputation and whose legacies in NUT leadership could not be underestimated.

Oke added that the teachers’ body repose so much trust and confidence in Adeparusi whom they said would never betray their interests if given opportunity to see to their matters.

” I have to suspend all other activities I was doing to join Hon. Adeparusi in his house because of the roles he has played in both the state and national levels, which culminated into the overall interests of teachers both individually and collectively in Ekiti State. We are here to honour him and celebrate with him”. Oke stated.

The NUT boss charged Muslim faithful to celebrate modestly and moderately to avoid incurring debt after the festive season.

In his response, the annual Host of the NUT Sallah celebration Hon. Adeparusi who was also joined by his numerous political associates expressed gratitude to the teachers and the leadership of the Union. He said that he had been hosting the teachers for the past ten years on every occasion of Eid-Kabir.

“I have always hold Teachers in very great esteem and I will always do. I am grateful for their show of love and I have promised them not to disappoint them because there are things they saw in me that made them accord me such a great respect. Not everybody has this kind of opportunity and I am not willing to take it for granted.

Hon. Adeparusi commended Gov. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, saying that the current administration was really making giant strides towards repositioning the education sector of the state.

He lauded the various teachers’ development program in terms of training and retraining of teachers, prompt payment of salaries, off setting of deductions and arrears as well as the recruitment of new teachers into primary and secondary schools saying that the Governor had proven excellence Oyebanji within the short period of his assumption of office.

At the event were members of the State Executive of NUT including the Vice Chairman, Comr. Remi Josi among others.
