THE newly appointed chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Osun State, Hon. Ibikun Ishola Fadipe has assured the people of Osun that his leadership will bring back the lost glory of Basic Education in the state.
Hon. Fadipe made this known in an interaction with our correspondent in his office. He said the condition of education in the state is terrible and it calls for all hands to be on deck.
The former Ilesa West Council chairman said he is working on how to revamp the basic education sector in the state, where there’s been acute shortage of basic infrastructure and manpower.
He noted that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is committed to providing good leadership in delivering on the promises he made during the electioneering period.
“It’s undeniable fact that our education in Osun is in the state of comatose and something must be done urgently to arrest the situation. The previous administrations in the state didn’t do well as far as education is concerned and so, we have a burden to turn the ugly trend around for the good of our children.
“It saddened my heart seeing the deplorable condition of our school buildings despite the humongous money spent in building the edifices. Unfortunately, the administration of former governor Oyetola failed to maintain these buildings.
He said he is already in talk with the governor on how to put the state’s education back on track. He said, “We have done it before, during the administration of former governor Oyinlola, and by the grace of God, we are going to achieve the needed result.”
Hon. Ibukun Fadipe was appointed by the Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, as the chairman of SUBEB. He is a former Ilesa West Local Government during the administration of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. During his tenure, he built the local government secretariat from the scratch to completion amongs several other infrastructural drive of the grassroot politician.
