President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with members of the erstwhile G5 Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Â
The president met with them at the State House, Abuja.
Â
Â
Of the five, four of them are now former governors while only Seyi Makinde is governor in Oyo State.
Â
They were led to the State House by former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike where they held closed-door meeting with Tinubu.
Â
Others at the meeting were Samuel Ortom, former Benue Governor; Makinde, Okezie Ikpeazu, former Abia governor and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, former governor of Enugu State.
Â
The president won three of the states belonging to the 5G Governors. The states are Benue, Rivers and Oyo, while Labour Party’s Peter Obi won in Abia and Enugu States.
Â
The 5G Governors were aggrieved with the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Iyorchia Ayu for refusing to step down as the key offices in the PDP then were occupied by northerners.
Â
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State said at the end of the meeting that the G5 otherwise known as the Integrity Group visited the President Bola Tinubu to brief him of the latest happenings and the group’s stance for fairness, equity and justice in the country.
Â
Makinde acknowledged that nation building is a difficult task and demands constant evaluation.
Â
The G5, according to him, will keep meeting with the President on the way forward for the country.
Â
“Nation building is a very difficult task. You have to keep evaluating, you know what you’re doing, where you’re going. So, we have to keep seeing the President, you know, to let him know what is happening.
Â
“The G-5, the Integrity Group, came to let the President know what we stood for: fairness, justice, and equity.
Â
This is the third time that Makinde would be visiting the President with some members of the group in the last one week.
