The founder, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), has advised the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to seek debt forgiveness for the country when he assumes office.

He urged him to learn from former President Olusegun Obasanjo who negotiated debt forgiveness because no investors would be willing to come and invest in a nation that could not pay its huge debts and the interest owed.

Babalola made the remarks at the weekend while answering questions from newsmen after a lecture titled, “Smart Infrastructure: Catalyst for Sustainable Development,” delivered at the university by Prof. Bamidele Adebisi of the University of Manchester, UK.

The legal luminary charged Nigerian professors on the need for quality researches to attract funding and investment from industries.

“The issues raised in their journals will be marketable. You can make millions and billions from it,” he said.

Adebisi in his lecture said technology could be used as a tool for societal development.

“All we need is optimisation in what we are doing and doing it better. By using technology, we can make things better,” the don added.
