It was a harvest of encomiums and praises on Friday at Ode Omu as the Osun State Government, under the leadership of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, commissioned the renovated block of three (3) rooms science laboratory and office, and a borehole water with reticulations in Ode Omu High School, Okeyidi community, Ode-Omu.
Voice Air Media reports that Ode Omu, is a town in Ayedaade local government, in Osun State, Southwest Nigeria. The town is well known to travellers in Nigeria as it is located on one of the main routes to Osogbo, the state capital.
The Governor’s Message
At the commissioning of the two(2) projects facilitated by Osun Community and Social Development Agency (OSUN CSDA), The Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi who represented his Excellency Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke, said laboratory is springboard for many science oriented students to conduct research, to practice scientific learning, and to find their professional bearings in life.
“One of the problems with science education in Nigeria is poor laboratory facilities, which I believe the project we are commissioning today will be able to solve. I strongly believe that the development of these laboratories will serve as a springboard for many sciences oriented students to find their professional bearings in life” Governor said.
His Excellency implored the Ode-Omu Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) to ensure there is good maintenance and sustainability plan for the project.
“With good maintenance and sustainability, this will ensure longevity of equipment and systems. And as such fewer resources are expended on replacements and repairs”.
“I pray that many more students will develop interests in science subjects, as science is the body of knowledge”.
He added that Adeleke’s Administration is here to served the people and appreciated Osun CSDA for spreading dividends of democracy to the nooks and crannies of the state.
The Deputy Governor, Prince Adewusi used the medium to alert the residents to prepare ahead for education submit in the state.
The Commissioning and Reactions
Delivering her speech, Mrs Funmi Abokede, the General Manager of Osun CSDA congratulated the people of Ode-Omu.
Mrs Abokede said the commissioning is only possible because of the funding provided by the State government.
“Indeed, our Governor is walking his talk on his Development Agenda to ensure that electoral promises are translated into needed social amenities and development” Abokede said.
She appreciated Okeyidi Community, Odeomu, Parents and Teachers of Odeomu High School; for their contribution and participation before and during the implementation of the projects.
The Head of local government of Ayedaade LG, Alhaji Akande Yinus Olalekan with sincere pleasure welcome his Excellency, the agency, citizens and residents to the historic event.
In his word; “They say water is life the hand pump borehole that was operating manually was changed to motorized one.”
“If I may recall that 2 years ago this agency procured and installed three 500kv transformers to this same community (Ode Omu) while two 500kv transformers were equally installed at Gbongan with box mini bridge constructed
“I therefore Implore our students to shy away from vandalism and imbibe the maintenance culture and take proper care of this project,” The Head of Ayedaade local government stated.
Also, Oba James Alani Oladipupo Idi-Asa 1, the Alayegun of Ode-Omu appreciated the State Government for remembering his Community with this kind of opportunity and promised that the project is would be maintained.
President Odeomu High School Old Students Association, Aare Sunday Omilani also appreciated the State Government for the opportunity of this programme.
