Governorship Candidate, Binani withdraws suit against INEC challenging Adamawa election

VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

Adamawa State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aisha “Binani” Dahiru, has withdrawn a suit she filed before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja challenging the victory of the incumbent Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri.

The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, dismissed the suit on Wednesday at the court session following a notice of discontinuance filed by Binani through her lawyer.

The Adamawa governorship supplementary election was conducted on April 15 following the declaration of the March 18 poll as inconclusive over alleged irregularities.

But Binani had sought leave of the court to file an ex parte application seeking an order of the court restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from invalidating her declaration as the winner of the governorship election by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari.

But Justice Ekwo had temporarily refused to entertain the ex parte application.
