Videos show the residents in large numbers jubilating the emergence of Abba, despite the imposed curfew.

Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Mallam Muhammad Garba, said the decision was “to prevent hoodlums from causing chaos in the already tense situation.”

According to the results declared by the Returning Officer in the state, Professor Ahmed Ibrahim, the NNPP candidate polled 1,019,602 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nasiru Gawuna of All Progressives’ Congress, who polled 890,705 votes.
