Police in Osun State has stated that it has not declared anyone wanted in connection with the crisis that erupted in Ifetedo, Ife South local government area of the State on Thursday.
The crisis, which started in the evening, led to the death of one person.
Commissioner of Police, Peter Abayomi Oladipo, debunked the rumour being circulated in a section of the media (Voice Air Media VAM News) not included), during a stakeholders engagement at the command headquarters in Osogbo on Friday.
Oladipo, who frowned at attempt by some politicians to become mouthpiece of the Police in the State, said the law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident.
“We want to warn some people who are peddling rumours on social media. There was a crisis in Ifetedo yesterday and this morning, there was a publication that Police has declared an individual wanted. To be honest with you, such publication did not emanate from police headquarters.
“The publication is forged, fake and a nullity. We’re going to investigate the source of such publication.”
The police boss urged stakeholders present to ensure that they get information from the right sources, while stating that the police will do everything possible to ensure that the state assembly election is peaceful.
