Election: IDU urges politicians, electorates to put interest of society in mind

THE Ilobu-Asake Development Union has called on politicians and electorates in the town to ensure they conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the Saturday elections.

The IDU President, Pastor Olufemi Salako in a statement on Thursday, appreciated the political actors for conducting themselves peacefully during the political campaign period.

The Union called on residents of Ilobu to come out and exercise their franchise by voting.

The statement reads, “The IDU appreciates all our Politicians on the peaceful and mature way they have conducted themselves since the beginning of the electioneering campaigns, as no untoward incidents has been recorded in contrast to twenty other listed local government areas that have witnessed violence and destructions during the campaign period.

“The National Union calls on the every eligible voters to participate in the election by coming out to vote for the candidates of their choice.

“Ilobu is widely acknowledged as a home of peace and hospitality, the IDU enjoins every Politicians, Political actors and Party loyalists to continue to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner. Any form of inciting comments or behavior must be abhorred as the peaceful atmosphere in Ilobu must be cherished and preserved at all times.

“Finally, we call on the electorates to continue to have the interest of the town in mind as they perform this civic responsibility; as your actions or inactions will determine our common future in the next four years.”
