VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the killing of five of its members by a notorious political thug loyal to Hon Sanya Omirin, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for Ijesa-South Federal Constituency, in this Saturday’s election.

Prominent among the APC members killed in Ijesa land on Tuesday, is Ibrahim Adebiyi a.k.a. ‘Omo Alhaja’ .

It was gathered that the daredevil thug, Bode Kayode a.k.a. ‘Bode Itapa’ shot Adebiyi at a close range at Ward 5 in Eti-Oni in the Atakumosa-East Local Government Council Area of Osun State on Tuesday while ‘Bode Itapa’ was in the midst of the PDP members and thugs who embarked on house-to-house campaign in the town yesterday.

It was learnt that the PDP members who were unruly were forcefully pasting the posters of Omirin and other PDP’s candidates on the walls of the houses of the APC members in the community while the PDP thugs were attacking and running the APC members out of their houses during the campaign exercise.

A reliable source in the town who craved anonymity disclosed that it was while the forceful house-to-house campaign of the PDP was in progress that the victim was shot in front of his house by ‘Bode Itapa’.

The other thugs in the PDP campaign when ‘Omo Alhaja’ was killed are: Demola Abey, Akika, Bannar, Ojo Easy,Tunde Olowe, Kehinde Ore, Doyin Ore, Bolanle ItaApa, Obiti Etiooni and Ade Alarere.

It would be recalled that ‘Bode Itapa’ has since been on the wanted list of the police over unresolved cases of extra-judicial killings in Ijesaland and beyond.

It was gathered that other four members of the APC were killed in Ilesa on Tuesday afternoon as booming of gunshots rented the air at the Bolorunduro area of the town when the PDP thugs who were on rampage were shooting indiscriminately.

The inhabitants of the ancient town were said to have run helter-skelter during the melee that lasted two hours.

A source close to the scene of the incident disclosed that shop owners within the vicinity hurriedly locked their shops while panicking parents and guardians were scampering for their children and wards

Commenting on the incidents, the Acting State Chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, stated that the killings were wicked, callous and inhuman.

He wondered why some political gladiators are thinking that they can get to power on the blood of other human beings.

Lawal charged the state police command to investigate the incidents with a view to arresting and prosecuting whoever may be directly or remotedly connected to the wicked acts.

He said there was more to the killings of the APC members than meets the eye more so that the state Governor Ademola Adeleke held his maiden state security meeting on Monday, where he gave a doubtful marching order to the security agencies to rid the state of political hoodlums.

In Lawal’s words: “We shall see how honest and genuine Governor Adeleke is with his order of arrest of political thugs now that it was the thugs loyal to his party that have needlessly killed other members of our party which is the third of its types within two weeks”.
