Fuel/Naira crisis: Protest breaks out at University of Ibadan, soldiers arrive scene

VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

Dissatisfied with the economic challenges facing the country, scores of protesters on Monday morning took to the gate of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, to express their anger over the ongoing economic hardship in the country.

Members of the community blocked the institution’s gate, thereby preventing vehicular movement and other activities.

VOICE AIR MEDIA learnt soldiers and Operation Burst officers had arrived the scene.

For weeks Nigeria has been faced with biting naira and fuel scarcity.

While angry reactions have continued to trail the twin problems of lingering fuel scarcity and poor implementation of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) cash swap policy that have left many citizens cash strapped and unable to attend to their basic needs.

The frustration has triggered a near situation of unrest across the country, with people lamenting that they have money in the banks but were going about hungry because they can’t access it.
