Kenyan-American Edwin Kibet wins 8th Lagos-Nigeria Marathon

A Kenyan Elkanah Kibet has won the 8th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon staged on Saturday February 4, 2023.

Kibet who is also an American clinched the diadem with a time of 2:14:00 and has grabbed $50,000 prize tag for the Marathon.

He overtook meet record holder and former race leader David Bamasai at the 26km mark to clinch the 2023 Lagos City Marathon.

Alemenseh Guta of Ethiopia was the first woman to cross the finish line, followed in second place by Kebene Urisa and Kenya’s Naomi Maiyo in third place.

The Marathon took off from National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos an terminated at the Eko Atlantic City.

The first Nigerian to reach the finish line in the 2023 Lagos City Marathon got there in an impressive time of 2hrs 14mins 6secs.
