Stop Displaying Your Goods Along Roadsides – Osun Govt Cautions Traders

VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

Market women and other traders at Owode-Ede, Igbona in Osogbo and other markets located along major express roads in the State have been warned against displaying their goods beside the road on market days.

Residents are also advised not to patronize traders who they see display their goods too close to the express road for their own safety and to allow free flow of traffic.

The Executive Secretary, Osun State Office Of Transportation, Engr. Bilal Adiat gave the warning today while featuring on a radio program monitored in Osogbo.

He said market women at Owode-Ede and Ignona markets are mostly fond of displaying their goods very close to the roads and in the process impeding free flow of traffic on the road.

Engr. Bilal added that it causes more danger to lives and properties as heavy duty vehicles and small cars can easily skid off the road and crush people because they are too close to the roadside.

He also used the opportunity to warm commercial motorcycle riders who are also fond of locating their passenger points very close to express roads, stressing that it is dangerous to the riders and their passengers.

While stressing that the State Government will not fold it’s arms and watch the commercial motorcycle riders pose dangers to themselves and other members of the society, Engr. Adiat said offenders will be made to face the full wrath of the law henceforth.

He said, “At the office of transportation, we stand against anything or anyone taking steps that can hinder the free flow of traffic and cause danger to members of the society, our roads should not be used to display goods or as parking space for minibuses and motorbikes”. The Executive Secretary stated.
