Osun Tribunal: NANS Disowns Protest Treats, Says Authentic South West Students Not Part Of Senseless And Ridiculous Movement

THE National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS)/Zone D, South West Zone has disowned a statement credited to one John Alao who claimed to be Deputy Cordinator of the association in the south west one Eruobami Ayobami condemning the judgement of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

The association described Alao and Eruobami as “impostors and political jobbers” saying the thou do not have the authority of NANS South West Zone or any state to issue such “senseless and ridiculous statement.”

In a statement signed by the South West Cordinator of NANS, Stephen Tegbe and made available to Journalists described the statement as impersonation and fraudulent which should not be taken serious by any one.

The statement read” Our attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly issued by one John Alao claiming to be Deputy Cordinator of NANS Zone D, condemning Osun Election Petition Tribunal Judgement delivered yesterday.

“As a serious and revolutionary organisation, we are under obligation to respond to the ridiculous and embarrassing statement for the unsuspecting members of the public not to consider that as opinion of the students in the most ideological zone”

” We find it expedient to alert the members of the public about the political jobbers claiming to be representing the students, specifically the said John Alao is not the Deputy Cordinator of the zone and not in any way representing the zone. Whatever opinion he might expressed in respect of the Tribunal Judgement remains his personal view and political bias”.

” It is important to let the members of the public know that this is the same way the said Alao recently embarrassed the leadership of the zone where he announced that NANS endorsed the PDP presidential Aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar without the mandate of structure of NANS at National, Zonal or State level before the NANS leaders disowned him. we can not allow one individual to continue to drag the name of our organisation into the mud”

” We state categorically that NANS Zone D is not part of the statement and we disowned his condemnation in its entirety and therefore urge the members of the public to discard the statement”.

” Fundamentally, it is the right of anyone who felt comfortable to challenges the result of election in court, that is the law and civil way of strengthen democracy and rule of law and NANS would not be part of any move that will undermine the judiciary as the last hope of the people.”

” It is the constitutional right of a candidate or political party to challenge election result and who so ever that is not satisfied can go to higher court to seek redress. Therefore NANS must be excused from political brigandage”.

” We have informed appropriate security agencies of the impersonation of the individuals involved and we are also using this medium to warn the members of the public that any one who relate with them as the representative of NANS does that at his or her own risk.”

” We therefore urge the people of Osun State to remain calm particularly the students to face their academic activities.” Tegbe said.
