Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Thursday launched the appeal fund for the 2023 Emblem for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a sum of N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira only).

He promised to continue to support the veterans and relatives of the fallen heroes for their contribution to the sustenance of peace in the country.

In his address at the launching of the emblem at the Local Government Service Commission Hall, Abere, Osogbo, Adeleke said the stability of the nation rests on the gallantry, patriotism, and sacrifice of the security and military services.

“I reassure the military service of the commitment of our government to expand the present level of partnership. Our administration has a security sector reform that places the welfare of service personnel at the centre stage.

“I recommit to the well-being of our service personnel. Our veterans and their families will continue to receive our support in recognition of their service to the fatherland,” Adeleke added.

In his address, the Chairman Nigeria Legion Osun State, Comrade Oladipo Abioye Peter glorified God for making them to witness 2023 Armed forces Remembrance Day celebration and fund raising appeal week.

He used the opportunity to inform the Governor of their long standing requests which are as follows;

• Approval of monthly subvention to state headquarters and area offices of Nigeria Legion in the state.

• Issuance of mandatory letter of support and full participation by local Government and LCDA’s in the state during the event of annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration and as at when necessary.

• Provision of official vehicles to the State Headquarters to ease logistics movement to National seminars, Retreat, Meetings and also to inter-state and State assignments.

He further noted that, “the aforementioned requests are being enjoyed by our counterparts in the South-West states for long and we are always at the mercy of Oyo state in particular while traveling to National calls.

“In light of the above, we pray that these our requests be one of the new year packages Osun State Nigerian Legion. “We know you can and that you will do them for us”, he said.
