JUST IN: Gunmen Attack Travellers In Kogi, Shoot Journalist

A communications specialist and senior crime reporter with Daily Trust Newspaper, Idowu Isamotu, has been shot by gunmen along the Lokoja-Obajana road in Kogi State, The PUNCH reports.

Our correspondent exclusively gathered that the attack happened at about 5 pm on Wednesday.

In an SOS message sent to our correspondent, the reporter described the assailants as “terrorists”.

He said, “I’ve just been shot by terrorists along the Lokoja-Obajana road. Only God saved us.

“I was in my private car. We were four adults and two children in the vehicle.”

They have been taken to the hospital as of the time of filling this report.

When contacted, the Kogi State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, said he would inform the police formations along the Lokoja-Obajana route.

Aya said, “I’m reaching out to all police formations along that road.

The Lokoja-Obajana road is long, hence I need to contact the DPOs in the area concerning the situation report.”
