Man kills kinsman over alleged affair with wife

The Ndiolumbe autonomous community in Isiala Ngwa South LGA of Abia State has been thrown into mourning following the murder of an indigene, Mr. Ukaegbu Ogii by his kinsman, Okwudili Mbama.

The late Ukaegbu Ogii was stabbed in the neck by the suspect, Okwudili Mbama, popularly known as Nkume, who had accused the victim of having extra-marital affairs with his wife, Mercy Mbama.

A community source revealed that the suspect who hailed from Umuota village in Ndiolumbe, immediately fled to unknown destination to avoid arrest.

The community source added that the suspect had a few weeks ago, inflicted head injury on the late Ukaegbu Ogii, because of the same issue, despite community intervention.

The news of Ukaegbu Ogii’s death sparked tension in the community.

Abia State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying that the matter was reported at Omoba Police Divisional headquarters on 5th April by one Mrs Okwudili Mbama, the wife of the suspect.

The Police Public Relations Officer of Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka said that detectives from the Command visited the scene of the incident and took the victim to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

“His body has been deposited at the Morgue for autopsy and preservation, with efforts on to arrest the suspect who is at large.
