Ekiti: Olanrewaju Olamide Felix hands over NANS JCC Leadership(Full speech)

The Emeritus’ Chairman (NANS JCC Ekiti Axis), Comrade Olanrewaju Olamide Felix, delivered a powerful speech during the their Valedictory Service and also recalled the dates of the Saver’s Team Administration’s birth on February 20, 2021, and its inauguration on May 20, 2021.

However, he analyzes his accomplishments and significant achievements as he speaks, stating that their 19-month administration’s challenges were centered on ensuring the welfare of Nigerian students, whom he considers as a national treasure. He then thanked God for the journey to that point.

He also expressed his gratitude to the presidents of the six senators’ student unions for their assistance and for granting him the opportunity to represent the NANS JCC Ekiti Axis.

Comrade Olanrewaju continues by listing their accomplishments in a variety of areas, including: welfare intervention, security and safety, successful students union elections, restoration of democratically elected union executives, relaxation, tourism, and social activities, resque missions, educational appraisal and award, sporting activities, building humanitarian service oriented leaders, peace advocacy mission, offline and online open interactions, Ekiti state students fiesta, and more.

Finally, he thanks all Nigerian students for their support and extends greetings to the National President, Comrade Sunday Asefon, and others.

Protocols

1. Great Nigerian Students ! It is in an atmosphere of happiness and general level of satisfaction that the Saver’s Team administration was birthed on 20th of February, 2021 and was inaugurated on May 20, 2021.
Today, I am delighted to make bold that I have fought the good fight of faith and I have kept the faith.

2. It is scripturally and scientifically believed that there is a time and season for everything under the sun. Our leadership journey which was hinged on the welfare of Nigerian Students seeing them as national treasure has come to an end.
In this 19 months administration, critical decisions were made for the entire student of the state. We represented, agonized, agitated and negotiated on behalf of the teeming Nigerian Students in the state.

3. My accolade goes first to God Almighty, who impacted us with the necessary ingredients of leadership which created enthusiasm and virtues to serve NANS JCC EKITI AXIS. Second is to all the six senators and students’ union Presidents whom directly or indirectly gave us the opportunity to servanthood with their mandate.

ACHIEVEMENTS
4. NANS JCC EKITI has through purposeful engagement, constructive agitations, education and actions been in advocacy and vanguard of societal progress, and development. With your support, we have been able to excell positively in the following areas during our administration:

5. WELFARE INTERVENTION
During 2020/2021 academic session, the body intervened and dialogued with managements of various institutions in the state in which hiked Students’ fees were reduced to a reasonable extent. These institution includes:
I. Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State (BOUESTI).

ii. College of Health, Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti (COHESTI).
Both reduction was documented in a letter addressed to the office of the chairman.

6. SECURITY AND SAFETY
i. We had a positive round table discussions with various Government agencies and parastatals which includes the Department of State Security, Ekiti State Police Command, NSCDC state command, Royal father’s in the state and high ranked Government officials. Our discussions which yielded great success were all centered on the security and safety of all members across the globe, results of which has brought tremendous security relieve to all inhabitants of the state.
ii. In order to reduce the rate of crime in the society, we organized Walk against Rape and cultism.
III. We met with the Heavy duty vehicle association in Ekiti when we notice rampant accident due to their reckless driving. This claimed the life of one of our student Olagodo Israel along ureje road, Ado Ekiti. After our deliberation with them, their recklessness was cautioned.
iv. Continuous advocacy for our students whom are unjustly arrested at any point in time. This led us to constituting a committee against police harassment to curb the rude, and unprofessional attitude portrayed by some police officers on major roads leading to our institutions.

v. Collaboration with FRSC to sensitize students’ with vehicle on the issue of reckless driving.
vi. We engaged the Chief Medical Director of both EKITI STATE TEACHING HOSPITAL AND FEDERAL TEACHING HOSPITAL IDO to seek urgent attention for our students that would be referred from different school health centers to their hospitals.

7. SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS UNION ELECTIONS
Despite the obvious challenges, we had successful Students Union elections in all our institutions all through our administration, this is not limited to:

i. Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE)
ii. Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State (BOUESTI).
iii. Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU)
iv: College of Health, Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti (COHESTI).
v: The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti.

Likewise, at the zonal level, you were all ably represented by senators from your institutions at all the events that took place.

8. RESTORATION OF DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED UNION EXECUTIVES
After much deliberations with various stake holders in Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, it should be noted that democratically elected Students’ Union Executives were inaugurated on Wednesday, June 8 2022 after an electioneering process from Wednesday, June 1 and Monday, June 6 2022 through our various agitations for a substantive Students’ Union.
In the same vein, our administration led the struggle that led to the restoration of democratically elected student union in the College of Health, Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti (COHESTI) after about 8years of suspension.

9. RECREATION, TOURISM AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
As you are aware that Education is not only a business of the four walls only, in order to boost tourism, increase your knowledge beyond the classrooms, and increase good social activities in the state, we successfully organized a tour to our world-class tourist location in the Universe, IKOGOSI warm and cold water spring, Ikogosi-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

10. RESQUE MISSIONS
For you to enjoy uninterrupted academic calendar, the Saver Team under the leadership of Comrade OLANREWAJU OLAMIDE FELIX engaged in various resque missions to some institutions, notable of them all were those of BOUESTI,FUOYE, FEDPOLY during the suspension of the second semester examination by the academic staff union of the Polytechnic AND COHESTI in which we had to prevent the total shut down of the institution during Students unrest caused by the controversial act of the management when hazardous chemicals used as fumigant were inhaled by our students during a fumigation exercise.

PROGRAMS
11. EDUCATIONAL APPRAISAL AND AWARD
i. We successfully hosted symposium at various institutions in which interactive and mind opening topics were discussed.
ii. Without doubt, you will agree with me that 2021 International students day was celebrated in style with a tour to Ikogosi warm Spring and many more recreational activities.

12. SPORTING ACTIVITIES
Through the office of Director of Sports, we organized various sporting competitions in all our institutions. With your support, we partnered and featured in all Youth Sporting activities during our administration which includes Ekiti Obas Cup, Paintball Hangout in conjunction with Ekiti State Sport Council (Students sector), Higher Institution Games (Hifi), and the likes.

13. BUILDING OF HUMANITARIAN SERVICES ORIENTED LEADERS.
In order to familiarize all upcoming Comrades, Students leaders at all levels (Department, School and Students’ Union) to Students Union activities, humanitarian services and also to learn, discuss and dialogue with past leaders of the Union on their falls and rise, failures and success, and how they triumphed. The administration organized a leadership submit tagged ‘Students Leadership Development Summit’ at The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Conference Hall on Wednesday, March 16 2022, and it was a success.

14. PEACE ADVOCACY MISSION
It is worthy of note that the positive outcome of our peace advocacy mission before, during and after the just concluded gubernatorial elections held in our dear state is a beautiful fruit from our efforts towards having a peaceful community during our administration.

We also initiated an Advocacy platform for students whom were unjustly suspended or rusticated because they don’t play by the draconian and anti-progressive rules of the school management.

15. OFFLINE AND ONLINE OPEN INTERACTIONS
With your dedication, support and our desire to be more closer to you all, we have constantly made ourselves available for various interaction both online and offline. We have constantly kept you updated by communicating to you accordingly through our press statements, press update and interviews at various radio stations, online media platforms, and television across the nation.

16. EKITI STATE STUDENTS FIESTA
We organized the first and most memorable Students Fiesta in which Merit Awards were presented to notable personality in the state educational sector in appreciation to their positive roles towards the students populace.

TRANSITIONING
17. 2022 NATIONAL CONVENTION
Our Administration led Senators from the state to the National Convention which birthed Comrade Salawudeen Kamorudeen Alade PKA LEGACY from Federal University Oye-Ekiti as National Director of Travels and Exchanges.

18. PRE-CONVENTION
On Saturday, September 24 2022, at Hall A001, Satellite Campus, The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, we successfully hosted the 2022 pre-convention activities which at the end led to the decisions of the 2022 convention.

19. 2022 CONVENTION
With your supports in conjunction with other key stakeholders, we held the 2022 convention at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) on Saturday, 1 October 2022.
After a peaceful, free and fair election at the convention ground, the Administration of Comrade Sikiru ADERIBIGBE was birthed.

Remember, all these could not have been achieved without you, the Saver Team appreciate you all.

20. CHAIRMANS NOTE
I Comrade OLANREWAJU OLAMIDE FELIX Skul-Fada, the Team leader of Saver Team appeals to all bonafide members of our dear association to continually invest in value addition, intellectual capacity and sound ideological inclination, these will rescue our educational system from the path of collapse its heading to.

THANKSGIVING AND APPRECIATION
21. GREAT NIGERIAN STUDENTS, I thank you all for your love, prayers, support as well as your constructive criticism and suggestions . We were able to achieve this much because you believed in us. I sincerely can not thank you enough.

22. I want to acknowledged the efforts of my predecessors whom has served and impacted Ekiti students at one point or the other. Your labor of love is not unnoticed. Thank you for your constant advise and checkmating.

23. The Saver Team wants to specially appreciate the National President, Comrade Sunday ASEFON for his heroic roles and agenda in making sure the association runs smoothly. We equally celebrate the unflinching support of Hon Makinde Araoye, we love you Sir.

24. At the same time, we did like to express optimum appreciation to all heads and members of various institutions governing board/council, management team, institution Heads, Dean’s of Students Affairs, All stakeholders home and in diaspora, Students’ senators, thanks for been part of this year success.

25. I appreciate my parents Rev and Mrs Festus OLANREWAJU, your prayers are greatly felt. My Big brother is the best, Olan’s I love you. Big thank you to Ore, Caleb, marvelous, Damilola and Adenike.

26. I specially thank my Mentor, Beloved Opeyemi Abimbola for being a father and a backbone we can lean on boldly. You played a vital role in both my emergence and performance. In same view I appreciate my leader turn brother Ojo Oluwaseun Pius POS ALUTA for the love and constant reorientation.

27. My appreciation also goes to our S.A and SSA youth and student matters, Comrade Ademiloye Moses and Comr. Soyombo Olalekan, Leader Bewaji, Leader Aroo Solution, leader levelz, Comrade Benford, comrade Kayomide Ojo, Comr. Dinho and most importantly Pst hon. Stephen Abimbola. I sincerely appreciate your immeasurable contributions to this administration. I want to openly appreciate Sen. Isaac ENIAFE for your commitment and dedication to the course geniune struggle, I owe you alot.

28. In closing let me openly appreciate my best friend and greatest gift from God Adunni, for those who know you, no word is needed, for those who doesn’t know you no word is enough.

29. Once again, I sincerely that all Nigerian Students and everyone whom has contributed in one way or the other to the success of this administration, and made it impactful whose name are too numerous to list out here. I enjoin you all to support the new administration, even more.
