Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has urged Nigerians to elect leaders who will use the nation’s rich, diverse past and language to unite the people.
The 35th National Festival of Arts and Culture (Eko-NAFEST 2022), with the theme “Culture and Peaceful Coexistence,” opened with his speech.
The purpose of the yearly event is to bring together the populace and highlight Nigeria’s rich and diverse cultural history.
Sanwo-Olu said: “This is the campaign season and political office holders continue to engage the electorate. It is therefore important to re-echo the message of unity and peaceful co-existence, which the NAFEST platform provides.””
Tourism, Arts and Culture Commissioner Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf implored everyone to use the opportunity to explore the abundant tourism potential in parts of the state.
She said: “Lagos prides itself as a peaceful state, known for co-habiting and co-existing in unity. Despite the differences in ethnicity and languages; Lagos remains a reference point for what an ideal state exemplifies.
“Here in Lagos, our nightlife activities remain top-notch, being a 21st century economy. This cultural festival, however, presents an opportunity for you to experience entertainment shows in this city of excellence.
“You must also be reminded that Lagos, apart from being the Centre of Excellence, is also a state of aquatic splendour surrounded by water, which constitutes part of our heritage. You are invited to explore the tourism potential on our waterways as well as the world- class water transportation system.” CONTINUE READING…………………………………….
