The crisis in the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere may not be resolved anytime soon, as another group chieftain, Gboyega Adejumo, insists on full support for the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Recall that Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the former leader of Afenifere, last week endorsed the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in Akure.
In response to Fasoranti’s endorsement of Tinubu, Ayo Adebanjo, the acting leader of Afenifere, insisted that Obi remains the group’s endorsed candidate.
Adebanjo stated that the South-East will rule Nigeria in 2023 based on the principles of justice, equity, and inclusiveness.
Meanwhile, Adejumo described Fasoranti’s endorsement of Tinubu as a joke in an interview with Channels.
He also stated that Afenifere, under Adebanjo’s leadership, remains ‘Obidient,‘ a slogan used by Obi supporters.
Adejumo said;
Afenifere is fully Obidient. Nothing has changed. What happened in Akure ought not to happen but it is the season… We’ve seen quite a slew of fake endorsements.
What happened in Akure was a farce, a joke.
He added that Adebanjo remains the leader of Afenifere and not Fasoranti, stating that the Fasoranti handed over to the former in March 2021. CONTINUE READING……………………………………
