Breaking: Umahi imposes dusk-to-dawn ban on motorcycles

Ebonyi State governor, Chief David Umahi has expressed concern over the increasing rate of gunmen attacks in the South East region and announced the plan to ban motorcycle operation from 7pm to 6am in the state.

Governor Umahi made the disclosure at the Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki during the Citizens’ Consultation/Public Input Meeting for 2023 Budget Estimate and the Stakeholders Summit on 2023 Population and Housing Census.

Governor Umahi said that the state attorney general and commissioner for justice, Barr. Cletus Ofoke would soon come up with an executive order banning the operation of motorcycle in the state between 7pm and 6am.

He stated that the state government is committed towards ensuring the security of lives and properties of its citizens adding that those clamouring for the disbandment of the EbubeAgu Security Network in the state are jokers.

Governor Umahi maintained that the security outfit has come to stay in the state adding that the number of the personnel would soon be doubled to consolidate on the already achieved success story of the security outfit.

The South East Governor’s Forum chairman also announced the restriction of the use of government schools and market places for campaign rallies ahead of the political campaigns in the state adding that anyone who wants to use the schools or market must get government approval.

Umahi noted that the restriction is not only for opposition parties but cut across all political parties and directed that anyone who must use the facilities must pay a certain amount of money.

He maintained that his administration will not tolerate campaign of calumny, name-calling or any form of abusive words by politicians stressing that defaulters will be made to face the full wrath of the law. CONTINUE READING……………………………….
