La Liga clubs are threatening to hold the league to ransom by embarking on a strike to protest against a new Spanish sports law currently being written.
The Partido Popular political party has withdrawn a proposal to include a provision in the new sports law that would have prohibited the Superleague from taking place.
It implies that the clubs opposed to the Superleague would not be protected by the government once the new law is in effect, Football Espana reports.
La Liga clubs have now met with the High Sports Committee in order to express those concerns after previously meeting with La Liga president Javier Tebas.
La Liga will likely strike on the weekend with the fixtures beginning on the 28th of October if the Government does not change its plans, as they have given the authorities 10 days to sort the issue out.
