NCYC speaks on unresolved wedges between Kogi govt and Obajana cement plant, calls Dangote out

It is no more news that Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and the Kogi state government are in opposition over the issues of allegations of tax evasion and unresolved ownership of DANGOTE Cement in Obajana, Kogi state.

To address the complacent issue The Leadership Of The North Central Youth Council Of Nigeria(NCYC) released a press statement through its President Activist Sunday A. Asuku on Friday 14th October 2022.

Activist Sunday in his statement expresses how fallacious News is portraying the Kogi state government over the ongoing issue between Dangote Cement company and the state government.

He said;

“It is with a deep sense of penitence, self-reproach, contrition, and responsibility that we respond to obstreperous detractors and eclipsing oppositional elements to the logo state government over the issues of allegations of tax evasion and unresolved ownership of DANGOTE Cement in Obajana, Kogi state.

“I have a cloud of sadness engulf me as I speak, we read a series of press release statements on pages of newspapers and some that went viral on social media platforms about both parties. After reading the piece, what we saw was a poorly defenced script, The write-up sounded more like a literary presentation replate with adhomineum arguments, bereft of any sound leadership reasoning, garnished with embarrassing factual inaccuracies and stewed with shocking intellectual inconsistencies.

Shedding light on the misinterpreted word of the Kogi Governor, He said;

“Let me restate the inaugural promise that the Executive Governor said, that his administration shall exist for the sole purpose of serving the superseding interests of the people of Kogi state.

“We are proud of our courageous and indefatigable governor who took the bull by the horns to have exposed the issues of allegations of tax evasion and acquisition, his incredible performance in office since he came on board is quite commendable, he has made human capital development and infrastructural re-engineering the falcrum of his administration and by extension for standing for what is right.

Mr. Sunday further his statement on how deceptive the Dangote Group drives the public against the Kogi State Government.

His words;

“DANGOTE group have decided to misinform gullible members of the public against the government of Kogi state, but they only succeeded in exposing themselves as a group who blows nothing but air in widespread analysis. We discovered that the puerile tissues of lies were authored by DANGOTE agents who are trying to replace truth with lies.
The clarification and questions we want to ask DANGOTE groups are as follows:

(1) Can Dangote groups show evidence that they pay over #1bn to the government of Kogi state?

(2) Can DANGOTE groups show documents of the purchase of the Obajana Cement industry?

(3) Going by the stand of Kogi State, they alleged that it was shortchanged by the company in terms of ownership. we expect the company to show proof of ownership.

(4) ALHAJI Aliko Dangote owes Kogi state Government a lot of explanation about the transaction that took place in 1992 with proper documents.

“It is very painful and wounding that the DANGOTE group is promoting falsehood against the government of Kogi state.

He reiterated the petition the public slammed against the government over the said issue.

“The state government in the recent time received several petitions from the general public over the subject matter and we understand in the past 5 to 6 years, all efforts to sit with the President of the Dangote group was proved abortive.

“Dangote group should show evidence of consideration that dividend was paid to the state from the profits realized from the inception of the cement company to date
Does DANGOTE group has the legal right to transfer obajana cement to Dangote industries limited without legal procedures?

He made known that the state government is working on the report submitted by the technical committee after the evaluation of the legality of the alleged acquisition of obajana cement plc which was spearheaded by SSG.

The statement reads;

Kogi state government is acting on a report presented by the special technical committee on the evaluation of the legality of the alleged acquisition of obajana cement plc headed by SSG, she states that the transfer was invalid, null, and void. The Group Managing director of Dangote cement has unwittingly marketed half-truths, cover-ups, outright lies, and distorted facts against the governor and the state, although they are known for pernicious propaganda that has to turn progress into negative as merchant of lies.

Dangote Group has demonstrated insufficient sincerity in all their dealings with the state, their press statement is full of gross errors, mutilations, misrepresentations, and embarrassing and disconcerting counterfactuals.
We all know that all over the world taxation is accepted globally as the major means of funding governmental businesses to serve the people, taxation is also used to grow the economy and at the same time, if wrongly applied, it has the effects of crippling economic activities.

Mr Sunday questioned Dangote Cement company on projects and employment towards helping the community.

“How many of our youth in the host community are gainfully employed with Dangote cement?”

“As part of corporate social responsibility, how many schools did he build in obajana?
How about health care centers and how youths got education scholarships?”

“We advise trailer drivers blocking the Abuja-Lokoja expressway as a form of protest to steer clear, His Excellency Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi state through a Press statement have ordered the immediate release of all the trucks seized by the angry youths and allow them to either go back to the factory or to their destinations, pending when the lingering issue will be permanently resolved.

He urged other state governments within the North Central region to imitate the tenet of the Kogi state governor,

His words as stated;

“As a matter of fact, we urge other Governors within the North Central region to emulate the ideologies of His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, particularly in the aspect of security architecture and jealously guiding the state from illegal external invasion and illegal looting of Natural deposits.

Speaking on natural disasters, he compel residents subjected to flood to evacuate flood-subjected regions;

“The leadership of North Central Youth Council uses this medium to commiserate with the families of the flood victims in Kogi state as well as the state government is doing everything humanly possible to reduce the effects of this natural disaster, we urge residents to permanently vacate flood-prone areas to avert re-occurrence. We equally urge the federal government to collaborate with state governments to proffer a lasting solution to flooding in every part of the country.

“Finally we advise our youths not to take laws into their hands, we equally warn the staff of Dangote with misplaced venom against the executive governor of Kogi state Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, if they are dissatisfied with the state government’s action, they should move to court to seek redress.
