At least 17 governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have held a closed-door meeting with the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike.
VAM News reported that the candidates from Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina and 13 other states paid Governor Wike a visit at his country home in Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor local government area.
The candidates reportedly arrived in Port Harcourt around 8pm for the meeting which is coming amid the crisis rocking the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections. PDP crisis: What the guber candidates did in Rivers
The PDP governorship candidates were said to have gone to beg Governor Wike to forgive the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, and the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu as well as other PDP leaders that offended him.
However, this Newspaper could not be ascertained whether they were sent to beg Wike by the party, Atiku or they came on their own volition.
Confirming the development, the meeting started around 8:30pm. The PDP governorship candidate in Jigawa state, Mustapha Sule Lamido, is one of those at the meeting.
Other PDP governorship candidates in attendance include that of Kaduna state, Isa Ashiru, and Katsina state, Yakubu Lado Danmarke, among others. CONTINUE READING….
