Gunmen Kill Lagos Police Inspector

Gunmen have killed a police inspector attached to Lagos state police command.

The inspector was said to have been shot inside a tricycle at Coker Aguda axis of Lagos while he was returning from duty at a bank, on Wednesday.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, told NAN that the police inspector hired the tricycle as a means of transportation to his destination and was the only passenger in the vehicle before the incident.

Hundeyin said the service pistol of the inspector was taken away by the gunmen.

He said the tricycle driver was arrested and later released with the instruction that he should appear again on Thursday for further questioning to assist with the investigation.

Hundeyin said command has commenced investigation to track and arrest the gunmen who perpetrated the act.

The Lagos police spokesperson said the identity of the deceased will only be revealed after contacting his family members.

“He had left and was going somewhere inside a tricycle. He actually hired the tricycle and was the only passenger,” Hundeyin said.

“He was attacked, shot and his service pistol taken away. It happened in the afternoon around 3pm. He died in the night.”
