Special Delivery (2022): Movie Review

Special Delivery (2022)

Plot: Deliver anything you want.

Eun-ha, who is a normal junkyard employee, secretly works as a delivery clerk that deals with unusual delivery requests. One day, Eun-ha heads to Seoul to pick up a client who is involved in a gambling crime that wants to flee overseas. However, Eun-ha meets the client’s young son at the pick-up point, instead of the client himself. Kyeong-pil, a current police officer who is actually masterminding the whole gambling crime, chases after the missing child who has the security key to the bank account that holds 30 million dollars.

Review: Movies with thrilling automobile chase scenes and getaway driver plotlines provide an experience unlike any other.

As the name implies, Special Delivery centers around a special service that gives customers the option to transport packages from one location to another. It goes without saying that the process is very risky and, for that matter, illegal.

Eun-ha is not your typical getaway driver; she has honed the art of driving at high speeds while avoiding menacing pursuers brandishing guns. She ensures that her passengers arrive at their destination on time while spectacularly avoiding risks.

Transporting a criminal who appears to be being sought after by people he allegedly mistreated is the first job that is briefly shown to us.

Even in the most difficult circumstances, Eun-ha is able to make split-second decisions that are advantageous to her. There is one instance when her passengers are panicking and the pursuers are at their wits’ end, but she calmly sips a beverage while carrying out a mid-air special maneuver.

However, her next gig, which involves a client and his son Seo-won, goes horribly wrong when a corrupt cop and his henchmen kill the father, leaving Eun-ha stranded with the extremely adorable, but extremely frightened child.

The ending of Special Delivery is a special one, tugging at the heartstrings in more ways than one while hamming up every other scene with elaborate chase sequences and a lot of tense fights.
