Police in Ondo State on Friday confirmed the kidnap of four Ikare-Akoko chiefs on Owo/Ikare Road on Thursday.
The chiefs were on a return trip home from Akure when they were attacked by assailants.
âPolice received a distress call at about 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 that gunmen shot at one Toyota Corolla car while on motion around Ago Yeye, on Owo/Ikare Road,ââ police spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, stated.
âA bullet hit the driver in the head and the vehicle came to a halt, the other occupants numbering about four (identities unknown) were whisked into the bush while the driver was abandoned.
âThe police have recovered the vehicle while the driver was taken to the hospital where he is currently in stable condition,ââ Odunlami added.
The police spokesperson stated also that police, local hunters and vigilantes in the area were combing the bush to rescue the victims and arrest of the assailants.
In other news, Four persons were burnt to death on Friday while 16 others sustained injuries in a lone accident involving a Mazda bus at Oniworo, Foursquare Camp area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Mr Ahmed Umar, FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun confirmed the accident in Abeokuta, saying the accident occurred at 7:50 a.m.
He stated that the bus driver was speeding excessively before losing control and ramming into the median. The bus summersaulted and went into flames.
âA total of 20 persons were involved, four burnt beyond recognition while one female and 15 men were injured.
Umar stated that the injured victims were taken to a hospital at Ogere in Ogun.
He advised motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid crashes. CONTINUE READING…………..
