Osun: Adeleke breaks down in tears, recalls impacts of elder brother, Isiaka

Osun State Governor-Elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, broke down in tears on Sunday while discussing his victory in the Osun governorship election and the support he got from his family for his growth and success.

“All the time,” he said when asked if the experience ever made him remember his late elder brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, during a pre-recorded interview that aired on Monday on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The governor-elect continued, “This victory, I dedicate it to him.”

He then broke down in tears and took some 20 seconds to pull himself together before sharing with an emotion-laden voice what Senator Isiaka represented for him and Osun State.

Until his death in April 2017, Senator Isiaka Adeleke represented Osun West in the Senate and it was his demise that led to the emergence of the younger Adeleke as a senator.

Speaking about his victory in the just-concluded governorship election, Adeleke revealed that his victory was very important to him because of the late Isiaka.

According to him, Isiaka died in his pursuit to be governor to save the people of Osun State from misrule and hardship.

“His (Isiaka’s) spirit still lives,” said the governor-elect. “He died for this cause. He wanted to be the governor to save our people from slavery. Look at what happened; he died because of this cause.” (Channels TV)
