The Kano State Government has approved 10 days of Eid-El- Kabir Sallah break for all public and private primary and post-primary schools in the State.
This was just as the State Ministry of Education warned that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against defaulting students.
VAM News earlier on Thursday reported that the federal government declared next week Monday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 12 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
However, in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Kano Ministry of Education, Aliyu Yusuf, on Wednesday, July 6, the State extended the national public holiday by 8 days.
Mr Yusuf also urged parents and guardians of pupils and students to note that the break would commence on Thursday, July 7, to Sunday, July 17, 2022.
“The ministry, therefore, directed that all SS3 students writing NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS examinations as well as students on an exchange programme from other states at GSS Gwarzo and GGSS Shekara are to remain in their respective schools.
“Similarly the ministry has directed all Head Teachers and Principals to ensure that boarding students return to their schools on Sunday, July 17, while Day students resume on Monday, July 18, 2022, respectively, as normal academic activities will start on the resumption day,” the statement read in part.
